Last week I went on a trip to Brew hut with two other families. Lena carried pots, stove and dinner, but I needed to pack and carry everything else I need for F and I. The weather forecast called for rain and I was expecting snow at the hut. Here is what I packed: Overnight gear:
My clothes: Wearing when hiking:
Extra clothes
F outerwear:
F clothes:
Small items
11. Stuffy 12. Two water bottles 13. inReach 15. Shovel and bucket I could have left the UV pen at home, since there was still snow at the hut and the small pond was therefor not accessible. We also didn't use the shovel and bucket, because there were no outside play. Usually the shovel and bucket see a lot of use though. Last but not least
I would have been just fine without the micro spikes. All the things are packed in the picture above and I did in fact manage to carry it all up to Brew Hut (4.5km and 500 me of elevation) by myself. I weight the pack before leaving and it was around 32kg with F inside. I carried F most of the way there.

Yes! Finally someone who has thought about putting a good detailed list up about how they pack! I am new to the hiking game, but am doing loads of Bush walks in nz with my toddler. We are trying to build up to doing overnight hut visits too. Do you ever go just you and F? If so what do you pack for good/ fair/ but potentially variable weather? How long would you go for? Thanks for the inspiration!
